Parents view:

“Cheeky Cherubs currently have the pleasure of looking after my third and cheekiest child [2½]. Without them providing such a great start for my three children over 8 years I would not be able to juggle my career with being a mum, or at least not be able to do so guilt free!  Keep up the good work!”

“A fantastic nursery. My child has been going to Cheeky Cherubs for nearly four years. The staff are so talented, kind and thoughtful. My son has struggled with his speech and has needed speech therapy. The staff have worked so hard with him and without their help and guidance he wouldn’t be the confident little boy he is today. They enjoy a huge range of play, from the fantastic garden, sensory room, swimming lessons, trips out, cooking and so much more. The monthly reports are great, as you get to see lots of photos and the progress of your child. I highly recommend Cheeky Cherubs. The best nursery around by far.”

DAY NURSERY & PRE-SCHOOL

Day NurseryAt Cheeky Cherubs we believe that all children should be treated and respected as individuals – and that all relationships are built on love, a sense of fun and mutual respect.

Our aim is to provide a safe, stimulating and secure environment in which your child is encouraged to develop their full potential. We respect each child’s personality and reinforce positive behaviour in a sharing environment.

Opening Hours:

Cheeky Cherubs is open Monday – Friday from 7:30am until 6pm, 51 weeks per year, excluding bank holidays.

Morning sessions run from 8:30am until 1:00pm
Afternoon sessions run from 1:30pm until 5:30pm
A full day session runs from 8:30am until 5:30pm

By prior arrangement, sessions can start at 8am. Please see our fees page for a complete breakdown of sessions and costs.

Mealtimes

We feel it essential that children have access to a full cooked meal each day to give them the right fuel to enable them to be happy and healthy and perform to the best of their ability. We also feel that children benefit greatly from the social occasion that mealtimes provide and the opportunities to try new foods, whilst eating the same as their friends.

We have an on-site cook who prepares our meals using fresh ingredients, sourced from local suppliers. A mid-morning snack and afternoon snack are provided at nursery and all meals are included in fees. The meals are prepared in the nursery kitchen. Our daily lunch menu is planned to provide the necessary nutritional requirements for young children and is varied on a four-week rota. At tea time we serve a lighter meal such as scrambled egg on toast and this is served at 4:45pm.

A copy of the current menu is displayed on boards in the entrance area.

Let us know if your child has any special dietary requirements we will ensure that they are fully catered for. See a sample menu (pdf).

Funding Options

Funding for 2 Year-Olds

Funding for two year oldsDepending on your personal circumstances, your child may be entitled to 2 year-old funding. If your child is eligible, this funding can be used in the same way as the 3 year-old Nursery Education Funding with 15 hours a week free nursery education for 38 weeks of the year.

For more information on funding for 2 year-olds, please have a look at the www.somerset.gov.uk/childrens-services/childcare/funding-for-2-year-olds to find out if you are eligible. If so you can apply online here: or call 0845 345 9122 for an application form.

Funding for 3 and 4 Year Olds

ALL 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to 15 hours a week free childcare. Cheeky Cherubs Nursery is registered with the local education authority and receives funding for education for every 3 and 4 year old. Nursery Education Funding will fund a maximum number of hours for each funding period.

In September 2017, funding for 3 and 4 year olds is changing. Working families will be entitled to an additional 15 hours free childcare so 30 hours in all. You can check you eligibility and apply for this online now on the government’s Childcare Choices website: www.childcarechoices.gov.uk. There is also some info about it here: www.somerset.gov.uk/childrens-services/early-years-for-families/30-hours-of-funded-childcare/.

How 15 Hours Free Childcare Works

Funding period  Maximum hours available per period
 Spring  1st January – 31st March  165
 Summer  1st April – 31st August  195
 Autumn  1st September – 31st December  210

Each child is eligible for a maximum of 15 hours a week for 38 weeks of the year. This can be stretched out to 11 hours over 51 weeks of the year if desired. No more than 7 hours can be claimed in any one day. If you want to use more, we will deduct the number of hours each child is allowed from their monthly bill.

Some pre-schools and nurseries have limited opening hours. If your child already attends a preschool and you are not using the full 15 hours per week then Cheeky Cherubs can use the remaining hours at times suitable to you. We are open 51 weeks of the year so you can have free hours all through the year.

You do not need to apply for the 15 hours of 3-4 year old funding, we will claim on your behalf and the money is sent straight to us. You can find more info about Early Years provision in Somerset here: www.somerset.gov.uk/childrens-services/early-years-for-families/early-years-entitlement-information-for-families.

A lot of parents don’t realise that their children can attend two establishments with their nursery education funding and a lot of children are missing out on extra hours of learning through play.

Example of how you can combine childcare funding in two settings:

Your child attends preschool on a Monday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoon 12.30 – 3.30 – the total number of hours used is 9 – you still have 6 hours a week that you could use at Cheeky Cherubs. We feed into all local schools so your child will meet new friends.

If you would prefer to talk to someone about your options, please speak to a member of staff who will be happy to answer any questions.

Tax Free Childcare, Tax Credits and other Childcare Choices

There are a number of new childcare options for parents that have come into force in 2017. If you are working you may be eligible for tax-free childcare, 30 hours of funding or tax credits towards the cost of your childcare. The governments Childcare Choices gives a clear description of the options with tools for application: www.childcarechoices.gov.uk

You can find out about what childcare options are available locally and apply for 2 year old funding on the Somerset.Gov website: www.somerset.gov.uk/childrens-services/early-years-for-families/.

Home Visit

If you decide to register with Cheeky Cherubs, we will make an appointment for your child’s allocated keyworker and a supporting member of staff to visit you and your child at home.

A home visit allows your child and your family to meet your keyworker and get to know each other. We will go through all of the paperwork ready for your child to begin nursery and talk you through nursery policy and procedures.

The visit also provides an opportunity for you to ask any questions and let us know about your child’s preferences and routines – plus any medical information. We find this introduction helps each child to make a gentle transition from to nursery from home and quickly settle in to nursery life..

Parents

We actively encourage parents to take an interest and be involved during their child’s time at nursery and hold many events, family activities, outings, parent involvement days and parents drop-in sessions throughout the year. Newsletters and a parent’s notice board also share the latest information about nursery activities.

You can find additional information about Cheeky Cherubs policy and practices  on our policy page.

Without them providing such a great start for my three children over 8 years I would not be able to juggle my career with being a mum, or at least not be able to do so guilt free!  The older children love going back during school holidays to holiday club which I think says it all.
