We recognise that parents and carers are important members of the setting with valuable knowledge and information to share about their children.
By sharing information you can make sure that the setting provides the most appropriate care and education for your child.
We encourage you to become involved in all aspects of the setting. We will keep you up to date and involved by holding regular parent drop-in sessions.
Our setting complies with regulatory requirements and has the appropriate number of qualified staff for the children attending. We provide in-service training and staff development opportunities to continually update their skills, knowledge and experience.
Due to our commitment to safeguard children, we follow a carefully structured recruitment and selection procedure. All new staff must undergo a range of security checks including criminal record disclosures, reference and qualification checks and successfully complete a probation period.
Staff to Children Ratios are:
0 – 2 = 1:3
2 – 3 = 1:4
3 – 5 = 1:8
As well as all the additional activities all children have constant access to the basic provision, which is planned for by the key person for their key children based on needs and interests. Basic provision activities are:
Cheeky Cherubs believes that care and education are equally important in the experience which we offer children.
The routines and activities that make up the session/day in the setting are provided in ways that:
The setting organises the day so that children can take part in a variety of child chosen and adult led activities. These take account of children’s changing energy levels throughout the day. The setting caters for children’s individual needs for rest and quiet activities during the day. Outdoor activities contribute to children’s health, their physical development and their knowledge of the world around them. Babies are fed and changed by their key person and can sleep according to their own routine.
We offer breakfast for children who come attend nursery before 8:30am aswell as mid-morning and a mid-afternoon snack. These are free of charge. We also provide nutritionally balanced cooked meals at lunchtime. Our meals are freshly prepared and cooked daily on the premises by our own in-house cook, using locally-sourced fresh produce. Lunch costs £1.95. Each child’s individual dietary needs and / or weaning needs are catered for. We work in partnership with families and professionals to support children in developing lifelong healthy eating practices. Our meals for each week are put on famly. The famly app also allows us to send through information about how much your child has eaten at lunch time. If your child has any allergies please ask to see our allergy folder which displays all of the ingredients that are used. See a sample menu (pdf).
During your child’s time at Cheeky Cherubs, an important part of our work with them is to produce their individual learning journey. This consists of a number of activities including observations, assessments, next steps and your child’s work which is annotated and dated. These are all based on the early year’s foundation stage.
We use an app called ‘Famly‘ to record your child’s learning journey and share it with you. Our staff use iPads to record observations and photograph your child’s activities. This is then recorded in the app and you are able to comment or contribute to the journeys at any time.
All children should wear clothes that allow them to move freely and participate in messy play, so please bear this in mind. The nursery cannot be held responsible for any items of clothing that may become damaged.
We sell nursery uniform for our children but it is non-compulsory. Please see a member of staff if you are interested in purchasing any uniform or order online.
Please ensure that all your child’s clothes are clearly named and please provide a spare change of clothes on a daily basis as well as spare nappies and wipes, if needed. Please bring sun hats when it is hot and sunny, and wellington boots when it is wet as we place much emphasis on outdoor play. We will provide all-in-one waterproofs for all of the children to use whilst here.
If your child is at the age where they are going to begin potty training then we are more than happy to help them make the transition. We ask you to provide your child with plenty of spare clothes, nappies and wet wipes to ensure that their personal hygiene is kept to a high standard at all times. See our nappy and toileting policy.
During warm weather nursery will provide a standard factor 30 sun cream, as per government guidelines. If you wish to provide your own we ask that it is in clearly named bottle and it must have a minimum SPF of 25+
The nursery is only closed on bank holidays and for a small period of time over Christmas. Other than this the nusery is open all year round Monday to Friday, 7:30 till 6.
